The Women’s Irish Network for Racing was inspired by a conversation between four women working in the thoroughbred industry who felt there was a need for support and inspiration for young women employed in all aspects of horse racing. WINR was instigated as an ad hoc network in 2017.
The first event was a “Speed Networking” evening held in Lawlor’s Hotel in Naas. Over 50 women attended on the night, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, the need was confirmed and the network was up and running. The founding members of WINR continue to support the network through attending and participating in events, acting as sounding boards and mentors, as well as continuing to lead and develop their own careers.
